Bakersfield BNSF Yard
Author: jkchubbes

Just thought I'd like to share a photo I took a few days ago of the departing line up at the BNSF Bakersfield yard. Trackwork on the pass caused trains to build up in the yard. Here BNSF 6868, BNSF 4597 and BNSF 4082 wait for there turn to tackle the pass. Two other freights are seen to the left and one more is just out of photo.

The UP can't put trains in the yard at Bakersfield because as far as Roseville is concerned, Bakersfield doesn't exist. At least that's what our superintendent said a few years ago.

405 - Which was a power storing track . Osvc in account rail and tie condition.
406 - Which is osvc in account rail and tie condition.
This is just one's of many out of service tracks. It seem's as though they dont wanna spend the money on the repairs yet. Word is they will be building a brand new yard out @ 7th Standard road. Plans are done , Pretty big yard. The city of Bakersfield is supposedly looking for contractor's. They will get the old yard if they build a new one to BNSF specs. The money is being funded from the Centinial Corridor Funds that call for a Interchange with the 99.
