Photo Theme: Speed
Author: dt8089

After seeing schmo's excellent threads on various subjects I thought I'd start my own. Subject: Speed.
First shot is SF 3603 west with the hammer down at MP 40 Joliet in October of 80.
Second is Amtrak 305 with engine 329 at Elkart IL in May of 96.
Third is SP 332 east north of Pontiac IL in May of 96. Enjoy. Dan

More of a time exposure type shot but this train was moving at track spped (hence all of the gate movement and me being blown around).

I like this! Here's my contribution, Amtrak #11 splitting the searchlights just south of San Lucas on the Coast Line.

First up-a northbound Amtrak Hiawatha Cabbage Car at Lake Forest, IL on CP's C&M Sub last night. Then an eastbound BNSF double stack at Western Springs last week, and finally, an eastbound BN SD70MAC at Western Springs earlier this year...-Don Kalkman

1) in the wee hours of April 8th, 2003 we are speeding along through Newark, CA in a Caltrain "boxcab" northbound on the Coast Line...

2) still northbound on the Mulford (Coast Line) flying through San Leandro...

3) it's just about sunset time on a nasty overcast on February 25th, 2005. I've just parked Pinky the Tundra into my usual rooftop parking spot at the AMC/Bay Street Mall parking complex before catching an afterwork Friday night movie flick (aka "no trains" date night). Yup, got lucky and hit the 1:50 odds jackpot in catching a train at the exact same time I'm hitting my car alarm button. As railfan_girlfriend anxiously awaits to go buy our tickets and dig into some sodie-pop and popcorn, a quick sneak-in shot with the digi-cam nails an elevated pan shot of an interesting "Boeing" BNSF Warbonnet...
