When Might The UP River Sub Go Underwater?
Author: Sneebly

I have been watching the NOAA site wandering when and if the UP River sub (low grade route from Kansas City to Jefferson City Mo) might be removed from service due to Missouri River floodwaters. Here is some clues. Hoping they might have loaded coal trains up 1.43% Independence hill and 1.25% Lees Summitt hill.

THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR
THE MISSOURI RIVER AT NAPOLEON.
* AT 2:30 AM THURSDAY THE STAGE WAS 23.9 FEET.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 17.0 FEET.
* MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE RISING TO NEAR 25.8 FEET BY
EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON THEN BEGIN FALLING.
* AT 25.0 FEET...RURAL AREAS UNPROTECTED BY LEVEES FLOOD.
* AT 24.5 FEET...THE MISSOURI-PACIFIC RAILROAD TRACKS ARE OVERTOPPED.

I've always thought of the UP as being a pretty low grade outfit myself, and not just between KC and Jeff City.

Mainly because the last CEO they had that had any class whatsoever was a guy named John Kenefick. This Young guy they have now may be an improvement, but Lewis, especially Dick "Bonehead" Davidson, and some other truly unmemorable CEOs were a bunch.....a bunch of dummies.

Funny how a thread can morph into something undesired. I should have typed "relatively flat grade route" or carpenters dream route as in flat as a board.
