Western Railroad Discussion > Crazy Odd Lashup in SLCDate: 04/19/11 20:32 Crazy Odd Lashup in SLC Author: GrandeGold UP's Fourth South Switcher, aka the YRO52R picked up an SW1200 from the Salt Lake Garfield & Western interchange yard on Monday, April 18th. The CRGX 2254 is apparently of SP heritage. The reporting mark, CRGX is for Cargill, Incorporated, the largest privately held corporation in the United States in terms of revenue. On a rainy afternoon, this super odd lashup is captured heading east through Grant Tower to tie up for the day at the old D&RGW Fourth South Yard downtown.

Date: 04/19/11 21:17 Re: Crazy Odd Lashup in SLC Author: SP8595 Maybe the group that fixed up the old DRGW caboose in Colorado Springs can head to Salt Lake City to fix up the sorry shape of that "shoving platform"

Another old thread says it was St.LG&W DS-8 from about 1997-2000 - not sure if it was ever actually lettered or used by SLGW: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,1644279 See also: http://www.utahrails.net/utahrails/saltair-route.php Looks like it was listed by S & S Shortline Leasing in August 2010: http://www.ssshortlineleasing.com/wordpress/locomotive-model-sw-1200/ Ozark Mountain Railcar also had it listed as of April 3, 2011, now marked as SOLD. Asking price was $165,000. http://www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com/detail.asp?id=417&n=EMD-SW1200-2254-SOLD Date: 04/20/11 08:26 Re: Crazy Odd Lashup in SLC Author: cct24 Excellent! Thanks Evan!
D Date: 04/20/11 09:43 Re: Crazy Odd Lashup in SLC Author: BurtNorton Another interesting fact: Floyd, the older crew member pictured, has the oldest active seniority date in Salt Lake City on the DRGW boards. He is still sharp as a tack, enjoys his job greatly, and has many stories about all the abandoned branches in the Salt Lake City area. A real treat to talk to if you get a chance...
