Western Railroad Discussion > Flood Aftermath Boulder and Longmont, CODate: 09/16/13 18:11 Flood Aftermath Boulder and Longmont, CO Author: Pinlifter First up Boulder. This is the area around the South Siding Switch. BNSF's Front Range Sub crosses the Boulder Creek here. It is still cresting its banks and has taken (and trying to take) out track.
SSS Lots of water working its way through the ballast. SSS facing West. To the right is a flooded parking lot. Mother nature trying to make a new bridge. Date: 09/16/13 18:21 Re: Flood Aftermath Boulder and Longmont, CO Author: Pinlifter Boulder Creek still close to the top.
Boulder creek followed the tracks and found its weakest spot. The result was a washout. New culvert. You might be curious why no one is working on this. BNSF shipped all its assets to the Brush sub to get it online first. Its handles a larger volume of traffic. The C&S will have to wait. Lots of helicopters rescuing people. This one had someone special. Don't know who, but lots of police around. By the Longmont Depot. Another from MP 40.5. Date: 09/16/13 18:45 Re: Flood Aftermath Boulder and Longmont, CO Author: jc76 Ugly....
Date: 09/16/13 18:51 Re: Flood Aftermath Boulder and Longmont, CO Author: Pinlifter It most definitely is ugly. This is most the damage between Boulder and Longmont. I think I only missed one spot. Its just a lot of repairs to be made.
Wonder where the Denver cars are destined too. Maybe the Front Range. The gateway from the South and East are all that work. Most the industries in Denver proper haven't been effected much. Date: 09/16/13 22:00 Re: Flood Aftermath Boulder and Longmont, CO Author: NH2006 Good update Pin, thanks!
Here is Loveland, almost ready to let trains get down to fix the washout at Longs Peak Date: 09/16/13 22:09 Re: Flood Aftermath Boulder and Longmont, CO Author: Pinlifter NH2006 Wrote:

They moved fast on that. My plan was to check that out tomorrow. Gotta take advantage while the Hillrose Bridge is out. They are already unloading steel for it. You can't get near the Loveland work. Its now staffed with Police! That probably was the gov then. |
