I'm a BNSF conductor out of Needles, CA and I spent most of the year working the Needles to Winslow Pool, with the balance on the Needles to Barstow Pool. This list will be most interesting to any symbol-junkie out there, but next to the train symbols I put down my on duty time so everyone can see what random hours and times we railroaders go on duty. Seniority is starting to pay off as I worked the least amount of trips this year yet made the most amount of money in my career thus far.
The train symbols are listed in pairs to denote each leg of an individual round trip. 'I' trains are deadheads. On some days, there can be as many as 20-30 deadheads between two city pairs, especially on the Winslow Pool as engineer and conductors are "separate" for those deadheads needing two deadhead symbols to assign to the individual crew members. That has to do with certain agreements about Active Boards, Designated Deadheads, and the like. All inside baseball stuff that I barely understand myself. |
