Jamacian red. SD-40, Anybody got a better shot!
Author: glord

Caught this deep in the Galesburg ILL yard last summer. Waited as long as I could but it never moved. Anyone have details?

Looks like destined for bauxite hauling from St. Anne mine to Port Rhoades at Discovery Bay. Stopped there last year on vacation, but wasn't able to railfan...only got this shot from entrance. Operation was part owned by Noranda Aluminum at the time. Operation and existing SD38 in Jamaica was originally Kaiser Alumunium, hence the red paint job.

I've never been to Jamaica (not even Jamaica, Long Island) but a co-worker visited there and brought back a photo of the bauxite train. I'll post it when I get it scanned.
