Reflections Concerning Recent Railfanning
Author: Q4960

I was in Galesburg, Illinois this last weekend for Railroad Days and found myself trackside and puddleside on several occasions and thought that I would take advantage of the remants of previous heavy rains  The UP westbound is on BNSF tracks a couple of miles east of Cameron on Sunday [June 28, 2015].  The BNSF westbound has just crossed the Keokuk Junction at Bushnell on Monday.  The KJ's westbound crossing the BNSF at Bushnell the same day.

More to come...

On Monday, June 29th we gave chase and caught the Keokuk Junction's westbound from Kolbe to Bushnell, Illinois.  Leading was GP 20u PREX 2003, built originally for the ATSF, with two F's trailing.  While I would have like to have seen the F's on the point, there is still something to be said about a 45 year old work horse leading the way!  First two photos were taken between Canton and Cuba, IL, the third at Smithfield.

Nice stuff, Roger, thanks for posting.

About that UP train: it looks to be at the east end of the Cameron Connection on the Santa Fe.
Does that seem right to you?

That's correct.  From the other direction I could see that connection.

In the 7th shot, is that an old motorcar section shed?

I also discovered that the shack had a stove and that men from the B&B or section would be stationed there 24/7 during times of ice flow to protect the bridge and to protect it during time of flood from floating objects ramming it - such as trees, etc.
