A Day out at Shawmut (AZ)
Author: ACR_Ted

Now that another long hot summer is gone it was time to go back out into the Arizona desert and see some trains. While it wasn't a real busy day we saw 8 trains in about 7 hours.

Here are a few photos:

1 - The first UP ET44AC that I have seen.
2 - Same train backed off on the zoom. It appears that the front truck has been swapped out recently.
3 - Another generic eastbound.

4 - What looks like to be a almost brand new ET44AC.
5 - Same train at a wider angle.
6 - A rolling roster of the 2739 - it sure was glistening in the afternoon sun.

7 - A westbound military train.
8 - This was an alleged "UPS Test Train" according to the DS and also to a westbound crew who asked them if they felt "special" today. However this train was snailing along at 49 mph and there wasn't a single piece of UPS equipment on it! No pigs or boxes with UPS markings,
9 - Another eastbound however seeing 5 units on the head end is not all that common anymore.

10 - After sunset we got two westbounds....here the first one is lit up by a camera mounted flash. I do like the way the striping shows.
11 - Here it was almost completely dark making the UP wings stand out nicely against the dark background.

Thanks for looking!

Ted
