Western Railroad Discussion > Lumber Going To Houston?

I've noticed, lately, a lot of lumber going EB down the UP Nampa Sub.
I'm also noticing a lot of empty centerbeam cars on WB manifests in the past 2-3 weeks.
Is there an increase in lumber from the Northwest/Canada going to Houston for its massive rebuilding effort?

Yep, lumber traffic is going to Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.

Hmmmm.....thousand of buildings destroyed in California, Texas, Florida, the Keys, Puerto Rico and many other places.

Can't imagine where all that lumber might be going......

Must be planning a big sale at a Home Depot somewhere away from any of those locales, ya' think?

Good point, drywall for flood damage, lumber for destroyed or damaged buildings (fire, wind or, complete submersion). After the Insurance Company ok and Local permitting.

Where does drywall come from on the East Coast?
