New Name & Paint for BNSF 80, Geo Car
Author: bnsfsd70

BNSF 80, the ex-SP gallery car-turned Track Geometry car has recently been repainted and renamed by the Topeka, KS shops. The COT&S date on the trucks read "11-09-17 BNSF TS."

Previously, the car had the redundant name of "Rio Grande River," and fortunately, someone with a basic knowledge of Spanish decided to correct this and have the car named "Rio Grande." In addition, the car formerly had some outdated BNSF branding (logos, lettering and name) that are no longer en vogue, so these issues have been rectified as well, putting the car in line with the rest of the business car fleet.

Thanks for looking!

They sure do great work! As with anything, there's a price for anything, so it's conceivable, but I've never once seen them work on PV in the years that I've been here.

I've been in that car. It had like five different flavors of Klondike Bars in the freezer!

So what did you do for a Klondike bar? Quid pro quo?

If published roster info is correct, we're looking at the very first Southern Pacific "Gallery" Commute car, SP 3700, built in 1955 by Pullman-Standard. The forged depressed-equalizer trucks look original to me, or the original style, at any rate.

Don't think UP's legal department would see the humor in that.

That's the word on the street regarding some of the other cars in the fleet as well. Hah!
