Four ACes and a Foreign Power Kicker
Author: TheNavigator

The monotony of all-GE consists in SoCal on both BNSF and UP gets punctuated occasionally by a train with an ACe in the lead.  In the past few days, and thanks to a couple of timely heads ups, I was able to lens a few of these breaks in the usual routine.  (Not all four ACes were on the same train, unfortunately.)

Thanks for looking,
GK

1.  Clean UP Tier 4 SD70ACe 3028, with KCSM 4762 6th back in the consist is eastbound through Blue Cut in Cajon Pass on June 1.

2.  Down-on roster shot of 3028 near the old Davis Ranch site east of the Mormon Rocks area.

3.  Late afternoon on June 8, BNSF 8423 is the rear DPU facing the “right” direction westbound approaching the WBCS at Verdemont.

4.  After shooting 8423, I stayed planted at Verdemont account locations of nearby trains and very heavy Friday afternoon road traffic.  SD70ACe 8529 showed up leading 3 elephant-style GE’s on an eastbound with matching orange Schneider containers behind the power.

5.  The 4th ACe is 8403, westbound near Thorn (Hesperia) this morning (June 12).

6.   The kicker in this poker hand was this clean UP 8155 east with CSX SD40-3 4041 and KCSM ES44AC 4762 in the consist on June 8.  This train stalled between Ono and Verdemont, but after two BNSF helpers tied on to the rear end it wasted no time making its way east.

Really nice, seems like lots of foreign power on the UP right now!

To this day, each time I see an ACe leader--on a bnSF stack, z train or just one in consist--it's still a bit odd looking.

That first consist is pretty decent. You caught a dash 8 in new paint with a new T4 EMD leading, and trailing, nice!

Any idea on the number of the trailing T4 ACe on that first train?
