She's Back!!!

UP 1943 made another visit to northern Illinois today leading UP's business train east towards Chicago, where it will continue east to New York to bring UP and CSX officials for a tour of the Railex facility there. Here are my shots of 1943 and company rolling through Rochelle today. Enjoy!

So I have to ask... Why does the train need a FRED?  Is it a CSX thing?

It is an FRA thing to provide a rear end marker and a way to allow the engineer to place the rear of the train into emergency if needed.
