Scheduled departure 1:00 pm CST. Wheels began turning at 1:00. Arrival in College Station (Council Bluffs’  baggage door at steps) at 3:45 pm, on schedule.

I can't imagine them screwing it up with the whole world watching. Did anything else run on that line while the funeral train was out?

Not familiar with area but did watch the CNN feed of motorcade to the train and there were 4 train stopped with power in same direction as the motorcade was traveling so I would assume everything was held.

For safety reasons, Im sure they held all trains, spiked all switches and had employees at all grade crossings.  From what I saw, UP and the military did an excellent job.  It was impressive to say the least.  It was no small task for UP to put it together.  

By by the way, does anyone know how it was crewed?  Regular freight turn, extra board, volunteers, chosen ones, luck of the draw?  From what I could see, there were a number of people in the cab.

A lot of new ties laying along the ROW.  Big tie project in progress.

Anyone know how many miles or ties they are changing out?
