Western Railroad Discussion > Late #3, BNSF Geometry Train YesterdayDate: 02/03/19 13:32 Late #3, BNSF Geometry Train Yesterday Author: mg8711 Despite gloomy, unphotogenic weather I got out yesterday to see the almost 12 hour late Amtrak train #3, the westbound Southwest Chief. As a bonus it met an eastbound BNSF Track Geometry train at Osage City, KS and I was able to get it as well before heading home.
1-2) AMTK 186 and 9 lead #3 west at Jordan Road on the north side of Carbondale, KS. Despite being a westbound, the train is actually facing southeast here. 3) Down the road at Scranton, KS, BNSF 4156 leads a its two car track geometry train east, it will terminate at Topeka.
