Western Railroad Discussion > SOO Line 50-ft. boxcars - which were brown, which were white?Date: 02/20/20 10:30 SOO Line 50-ft. boxcars - which were brown, which were white? Author: rbx551985 Does anyone have a list of which 50-foot SOO LINE boxcars (SOO 16000-series, SOO 17000-series, SOO 18000-series and SOO 19000-series) where painted WHITE, and which were painted BROWN - before CP Rail took over and repainted some of them red?

Author: MILW16 Check out the Soo Line Historical & Technical Society web page. They have some information on box cars - look under models and publications. Some (like those built in 1968) started out brown and ended up be painted white and red years later. White cars appeared to have been for special service in the ColorMark era.
