Western Railroad Discussion > I sure could use a train! (vol #27)Date: 06/01/20 22:54 I sure could use a train! (vol #27) Author: santafe199 I was homeward bound after chasing UP 1982 Mop Heritage all afternoon. But Herington ~ Manhattan via Abilene isn’t exactly the shortest route between 2 points. On the other hand I had a 4 month build-up of unused pixels to burn. Nice pre-sunset color building up, up there! A trio of head-on headlights just rounding the curve behind the tree would have been great. And it would have rolled right through those non-identical twin elevators back there.
But, having ridden this track several between 1978 & 1987 I might have preferred to see a red marker light + 2 white step lights of a Santa Fe waycar receding into that pastel evening sky… 1. Sitting on the 1300 Ave crossing, looking north along the BNSF Strong City Sub 1 mile south of Navarre, KS @ 8:30 PM on June 1, 2020. Thanks for the good ol’ college try!
