Western Railroad Discussion > Metra, SOO and WC Relics At SilvisDate: 08/02/20 06:38 Metra, SOO and WC Relics At Silvis Author: Ohiorailfan Our final stop on the 21st was Silvis. We made a quick decesion to drive back about a 100 feet down the gravel road to get shots of what we could see. In the open was an Ex Metra E8A and then near the IAIS building was 2 Ex CN GMD1s, SOO SW9 #2119 and WC SD35 #2500

If you had been there before, could you tell there was a smaller population of locomotives?
I assume the EFT on the fuel tanks means Empty Fuel Tank but someone correct me if that is incorrect. Any idea what the Lewis spray painted means? Lewis is the scrap company that will dismantle the locomotive.

Too bad there wasn't a reason to justify that prior to the end. They were relatively new (by today's standards) when the Rock shut down although they never ran again and spent more time sitting dead at Silvis after the end than they did in operation.

The “reborn” Rock in Mississippi bought an ex-CN standard cab Dash 8 for leasing purposes. You might get your wish, in a way... Posted from iPhone |
