2 & 3 - On Monday, March 1, 2021, a southbound train of talgo equipment is near Bailey Avenue, in Coyote Valley in south San José, CA. The talgo equipment is being pulled by Amtrak (AMTK) P42DCs 129 and 172. The talgo equipment is headed to a scrapyard. AMTK 129 is a GE P42DC. Reportedly AMTK 129 was built in 2000 as an GE P42DC serial number 52809. I hope you enjoy these: Steve Sloan San José, CA Date: 03/01/21 17:56 Re: Talgo Scrap Train in San José, CA Author: zephyrus I have to wonder what it would cost to refubish these sets and then add them to the Coast line as a supplement to the Starlight. One of the advantages of the Talgo design is taking curves faster correct? Wonder how they would handle the line.
Or perhaps as an add on to the Capitol fleet? Maybe for doing the long proposed from San Jose to Reno? Z Date: 03/01/21 17:59 Re: Talgo Scrap Train in San José, CA Author: PasadenaSub Great set of photos, especially along Bailey Ave in San Jose.

They looked very shabby. Refurbishment would be pretty expensive and extensive. They may have needed the locomotives for another train. |
