Arkansas & Missouri RR derailment on Arkansas River Bridge.
Author: funnelfan

Looks like the locomotives derailed at the point where the rails on the fixed span meets the rails on the movable span. Reportedly the train had three locomotives and 82 cars.

Hope that Alco comes out with just a minor scratch!

According to a posting on Facebook, it hit the not-quite-lowered drawspan and ripped everything off its undercarriage forward of the rear truck. The severed fuel tank dumped its contents into the river.

So rather than being "just a minor scratch," that probably qualifies at least as a flesh wound.

3 units and 82 cars and not behind the EMDs, set included at least one of the S6 switchers, interesting
train movement.

Out

The A&M is having a tough year so far.  Earlier in the year, a train derailed after encountering a broken rail.  At least 2 locomotives ended up on their sides, with one Alco being damaged beyond repair.  It is being salvaged for parts.
