BNSF 681 - 19 years apart
Author: rrartist

Time...is not on my side says the BNSF 681. I first photographed this locomotive in 2003 (top image) and again today as it led the H GFDBRC (middle / bottom images).  I seem to recall this locomotive was involved in a wreck out west, Wyoming possibly, it was rebuilt and repainted. Today it looks rode hard and put away wet and tired. 19 years of doing what GE intended....

Had Warbonnet 681 thru the back yard not long ago. It is sure rough looking but still earnig money. Interesting shot of 681 in better days.

Sure seems weird seeing a "fakebonnet" BNSF relettered 600 series, as faded and tattered as the original Santa Fe GEs. Had no idea this unit existed in this, um, "phase." Very interesting, thanks.

At least it "Got the Stuff" needed to run on the point.
