Smoky Dash9's power 2x1 nighttime Galesburg to Grand Forks train
Author: jmulhol2

A smoky pair of GE C44-9W's (aka- "Dash9's"), led by BNSF #5206 and trailed by a "warbonnet", lead a 122-car, 2x1 westbound Galesburg, IL --to-- Grand Forks, ND mixed manifest freight train past ~MP88 on the BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision in Thompson, ND during the blustery and cold nighttime hours of 11/28/2022. This train had earlier completed some work upon arrival into the BNSF Dilworth, MN train yard before getting a new crew, which is now leading the train seen here.

Interesting movement.

Does this train get broken apart and reshuffled at Grand Forks, since that's the termination point? Or does most of it continue intact west toward Minot and the High Line?

Some of the consist (reefers, empty centerbeams) could indicate the latter. Or maybe there's just a lot of business radiating out of GF toward Winnepeg and far northern ND and MN? I didn't notice any sugar airslides in the consist though.
