The "Red Barn" at Greenland Ranch north of Palmer Lake Co
Author: ns2557

Receiving word the old photogenic Red Barn that was prominent in many photo's taken along Colorado's Joint Line just north of Palmer Lake was destroyed by fire last night, 05-11-2023. With all the big thunderstorms we had yesterday afternoon and overnight into this morning, makes me think that if indeed it is gone, perhaps struck by lightning. The landscape just keeps on changing.  Ben

That's a good looking building.  Think of the model railroading possibilities.

Very attractive building that looked well cared for. I feel for the rancher who lost it.

Chris, The Barn is on the Allis Ranch. The ranch has been around since the late 1800's  to now. Not alot of info to be found yet on this, but perhaps that will change.   Ben

Most unfortunate. I live less than five miles from the barn and it will be sorely missed. MY first use of it for a background was with this southbound BN hotshot back in SEPT '84.

I went by on I-25 early in the morning yesterday and noticed the smoke and fire engines at the barn, sad that was a very cool piece of history.
