Slow-moving Longview, WA --to-- Noyes, MN empty unit grain train.
Author: jmulhol2

A 116-car Longview, WA --to-- Noyes, MN eastbound empty unit grain train in a common 2x1 power configuration is seen here slowly entering the far west end of the BNSF Grand Forks, ND, train yard during the mostly sunny mid-morning hours of 04/04/2024. Upon entering the train yard and tying down their train on the "passenger main" track, the crew was instructed to round up all 3 motors and bring them to the switch track near the yard office. Sometime later this day, an outbound crew tacked on CN power to this train, untied it, and continued eastbound along the BNSF Grand Forks Subdivision before taking the north leg of the "wye" at Noyes Junction in Crookston, MN, to enter the BNSF Noyes Subdivision and continue toward the BNSF-CN interchange point at Noyes, MN, near the U.S.-Canadian border. These empty three-bay covered hopper cars are eventually bound for loading in the loop track at the "Paterson Grain" grain elevator in Lilyfield, Manitoba, Canada (just to the north and west of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada).
