Sierra Railroad in Woodland

Saw this parked consist in Woodland on Sunday (yesterday). One engine showed Sierra Railroad.

A sign posted near the engines offered rail trips along the Sacramento river...

A few passenger cars rest on the track about 500 feet west bound of the consist....

And just when I was going to write these units off as prehistoric....they both are biodiesel...go figure...

Even my railfanning dog "Mitser" was mystified by the presence of these strange looking/consuming engines....

That is the "Sacramento River Train" which is operated by the Sierra Railroad.

The Sierra provides good service in their excursions/dinner trains at Oakdale. They also operate the Skunk Train in Willits/Ft. Bragg, which has a good reputation. I'd guess they'd keep to to similar standards in Woodland.

It used to, now it is the mark for the Sierra Northern Railroad. The Sierra and Yolo Shortline merged to form the Sierra Northern. When they did they just adopted the old SERA mark.
