It's been a busy past few weeks for me traveling to both Little River Railroad's 3-day 100th birthday celebration for engine #110 and to Train Festival 2011.

Somewhat lost in all this excitement was the debut of the latest steam engine to be restored to operation, Lehigh Valley Coal #126. Gramling Locomotive, the operators of Flagg Coal #75 completed the project shortly before the Little River event. Both engines also appeared at Train Festival. The engine made its first revenue trip on Saturday, July 16 pulling a train from Coldwater to Quincy, MI and return.

The tank locomotive was built in 1931 by Vulcan for Lehigh Valley Coal Company of Hazlenton, PA. The Gramlings purchased the derelict engine in 1993.

The Little River event will be featured on an upcoming DVD. Meanwhile, here are some photos of #126.

7. 126 is in the middle of the Quintuple-Header

8. After the last run on Sunday, crews and volunteers were lined up for an old fashioned pose. There are probably a few missing, but thanks to everybody who helped make this a memorable event!

Great coverage of what had to be the "sleeper" steam event of the year. Thanks for posting!

Cool lineup of good looking tank engines to compliment Little River 110. Is there a site that gives the particulars for each of these engines? Interesting to see some female crew members, too, and a couple of Harold Borovec imitators with red Kromer caps.

Thanks, Steve. Interesting, both 126 and 75 are Vulcan products. I thought they looked like they were related.
