You can bet Mrs. Dottie Lamb was in Traveler's Fare (dining car - third car back) ensuring everyone was having an enjoyable meal and Mr. Herman Lamb was somewhere on the train serving as the ultimate diplomat and head 'cat herder' during photo run-bys. Pre Commissioning Unit TENNESSEE had done Alpha sea trials 24 August. Shortly thereafter, Bravo trials...where I had an underwater tesitcular torsion. Believe me. YOU DO NOT WANT THIS! After healing from the operation I had to have to maintain my Sub quals, everything was back to normal. Ah Ha! Now I remember. I was field daying under a Fairbanks Morse 38 ND 8-1/8 diesel getting ready for the major dog and pony show which occurred on 17 December...the commissioning of USS Tennessee SSBN 734. Yep, clean clean clean - scrub a dub dub, clean up the sub - even on Saturday! Wishing the whole time I was bussing tables in Traveler's Fare for Mrs. Lamb, George Bressler, Andy, Tank, and Carl. Those were the days. Date: 10/23/11 06:56 Re: A Proud Moment for N&W 611 - 23rd Years Ago Today Author: YardEngine Absolutely gorgeous - thank you so much for sharing this fantastic photo. :-)

That's gotta be one of the nicest fall foliage with a train photos I've ever seen!!!!! I do miss 611! I rode behind her twice, the last time on August 7th, 1993 from Buffalo, NY to Conneaut, OH. I remember the trip like it was yesterday!!!!!

This is the first time that talk like this has not brought forth a lot of negativity from doubters. I for one, choose to believe that 611 will yet see another life. The J, the absolute pinnacle of steam locomotion belongs at the point of an NS excursion train.
