Southern Pacific Cab Forward 4100, Two Beautiful Photos
Author: MartyBernard

These two 8X10s were sent to me by the late Key Route Ken.  They have essentially no caption.

1. SP 4100 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward circa 1928, no location or photographer.

2. SP 4100 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward circa 1940, Los Angeles, unknown photographer.

Enjoy,
Marty Bernard

4100 was built in 1928 and was the first cab forward that was a simple articulated according to Vince's book "Cab Forward 4294."

Great photos! In the first one, she has stars on her driver centers, and in the second one, she does not. I would not think the SP would uninstall spring pad lubricators, or are the driver centers just covered with road grime?
