Steam & Excursion > 4014 on its run to Cheyenne with 1989 tagging along

So the wife and I had to jump on the Big Boy bandwagon today too. 
Here are just a few photos and one video of what I shot. The video from the overpass was thrilling with a cell phone recording in one hand and a camera in the other.

There's a certain amount of irony that the backup diesel needed a backup diesel.

They were just showing off the DRGW Heritage unit in Colorado.
Ed came off the Rio Grande.

That may be the most sound I've ever heard out of her (apart from when she climbed Archer Hill on day one of this tour).

Has Ed finally found the throttle after three long years? I know that he mastered the whistle cord on day one.

I think this is the third or forth video I've seen of the 4014 actually being worked. I actually haven't heard the diesel being used except for when they had the injector issue. All the cab ride videos he has been basically halfway open on the throttle.

There's even one out there where he's laying into it a bit and the safeties lift!...Have you seen it in Real Life yet Brian?

Kudos on the UP 4014 video . Good stack music as my late friend Lloyd E. Stagner used to say.

I believe the 1989 was added to the consist in Denver to then take the executive train on to Omaha.  Doubt it had anything to do with 4014 or 4015 not being up to the task they had just performed for the last month.  And, yes, 1989 was selected because Ed had started his career on the Moffat and is a true fan of the Moffat and the D&RGW.
