Ha, thats above my pay grade;)
It was an administrative wonder we got that shot as NMRX wanted pictures. Think it took an hour before we could start shooting.

It was an administrative wonder we got that shot as NMRX wanted pictures. Think it took an hour before we could start shooting.

Ha! NMRX (and NMDOT) have previously said they do not want anything to do with hosting or being responsible for any aspect of 2926 operations (source May 2926 Newsletter). Maybe they are reevaluating their position.

Notwithstanding my above comment, I'm a long time supporter of the 2926 group. Your picture is stunning. I just made it my Windows background picture.

I surmise this is a misquote in the context of the newsletter. The newsletter section is specifically about hosting PTC.

Clarification and update: I've received word that it was a general statement, not specifically PTC related, in May. However things have changed and relationships are getting better but with improvement still needed. Events like September rail yards open house and the Lerro photo shoot have shown that the equipment can run safely and reliably over the several miles between our shop on 8th Street and the south rail yards. As for PTC, the group is pushing forward to purchase and install the latest version, and is seeking funding for that purpose.

At what speed and pulling how much load? Simply running as a light engine for just a few miles isn't much of a "test" and doesn't really "break-in" anything.

I did saw a recent post on Facebook that they have a Railrunner supervisor, an Amtrak conductor, and a new CMO as part of the crew now.

I believe they are limited to 20mph running without PTC and they only had the tool car so far.

The regular engineer has quite a bit of mainline steam experience.  Also, don't believe everything you read on FB.
