Here are 2 photo's from my collection taken around the late 60's to mid 70's in New Jersey. First is E-44 # 4441 headed eastbound thru New Brunswick bound for Waverly yard in Newark on 5-20-1965.

Is it me, or did the E44's look "greener" than Pennsy's other allegedly green power? Maybe GE used TWO gallons of Kelly green to 98 gallons of black. . .

What has happened to these workhorses?
I understood the E 44s all received silicon rectifiers and became very reliable. Do not know of the E 33s.

They are cut up. I know one is preserved in the Pennsylvania RR Museum in Strasburg. I remember seeing several on a deadline in CNJs Elizabethport yard along with GG1s in the early 1980s waiting to get scrapped. Seem to remember some were in CR Blue.

One of the Virginian E33's (#135??) is in the Virginia Transportation Museum in Roanoke. It's been restored to its original paint scheme. One of the E44's is at RR Museum of PA in Strasburg in PRR colors (??!!).
