Reply: Edge detection is often used for converting photos to line graphics. For a good introduction, see Wikipedia's article on the subject.

Nice job, Fred. In image #3 I just found a new "current" desktop wallpaper background! Picasa has some similar capabilities that I've played around with.
While this certainly won't replace the classic 3/4 sunlit wedge, it is a refreshing change of pace & I hope some of the stiffer TO members lighten up a bit.
