Nostalgia & History > Penn Central Selkirk 1969Date: 12/14/13 16:53 Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: kgmontreal I just opened the box containing my new slide scanner and tried a scan without reading the manual or knowing what I'm doing. I promise to improve. Selkirk August 1969.

Nice image! Date: 12/14/13 17:30 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: BigSkyBlue That is one wild set of locomotives.
BSB Date: 12/14/13 17:31 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: DrLoco I think you can get a pass for this...no real need for improvement when the subject matter is that neat!

Looking forward for PC in NY.. Thanks! CR Date: 12/14/13 20:58 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: 3rdswitch Great catch and scan! Three builders, two roads, at least four models including semi rare multi colored PC worm.
JB Date: 12/14/13 22:47 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: SlwApprSlw The scan looks good to me. Also, no one seam to mention the DT&I unit in the picture. I guess DT&I 402 escaped the mainline for a while.

Ray Date: 12/15/13 07:39 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: kgmontreal The rebuild of Selkirk had only just been completed when the photo was taken. Euclid scrapers were parked where today the dispatching office sits.

Have fun with scanning, it is a lot of fun. Jim Date: 12/15/13 10:49 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: kgmontreal It was the one and only time I saw a DT&I unit in Selkirk. It was running and not being hauled dead.
KG Date: 12/15/13 12:22 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: Jesse6669 Very nice. I always enjoy old PC stuff. And the scan is great, the only think I think might be needed is to touch up some dust spots, although they don't really detract from the image.
Was that DT&I possibly run through from Flat Rock? Date: 12/15/13 22:49 Re: Penn Central Selkirk 1969 Author: halfmoonharold Regarding dust, it's alot easier to clean the slides before scanning. Dust removing software can remove other things, like code lines, in my experience. You can get good results using the clone tool in Photoshop Elements, but this gets time-consuming if you have alot of slides to scan. Get a microfiber cloth at a camera store made for cleaning lenses, etc. I use it to dab lightly at the slide until I get the stuff off.
