NOTE:  The first two slides are sequentially numbered.  That means Rick took the shot at Oakland, then high-tailed it 43 miles up to Suisan-Fairfield for the second shot.  The timetable allows the City 1:18 with 4 intermediate stops.

1. SP 3202 with the City of San Francisco, Train 102, Oakland, CA 16th Street Station in January 1968.

2. SP 3032 with the City of San Francisco, Train 102, Suisan-Fairfield, CA Station in January 1968.

3. SP SDP45 3207 with the San Joaquin Daylight, Berkeley, CA in October, 1967.

Very nice shots. Besides Martinez and Suisun-Fairfield where else did the City stop?

IMHO the last good looking passenger power built!
They look all business, no silly frills, no european influenced styling, no pastel paint job......

We used them on the peninsula commutes for a long time after they retired the FM's.  Lots of get-up-and-go, but hard to stop with a short train because they were so heavy.  You had to watch your speed between the short station distances.  A Geep might get you up to 50, but these would have you near 70 in the same distance. 

Pic 1: the fourth car looks like a MILW rib-side coach. If so, very odd for one to be that far from home.....

I thought the same thing, but on closer examination I believe it is one of SP's fluted side coaches.  By this time the MILW ribbed-side cars (built in 1942) were getting scarce even out of Chicago.  I don't believe anty of them received leg rest seats.

I'm guessing the fourth car is a UP Budd coach.

What is the second car of the thrid photo?

Two tall doors with small windows between them, sure reminds me of the latter SP RPO's.

Looking at it again I see the third door and the mail bag hook. These cars were bought new near the end of Mail Contracts and became famous for being stored at Bayshore longer than they were on the road in service. Pretty fancy car but pretty late in that era.

Nope, one door at the front. SP Baggage dorm made by Pullman standard

Yes, definitely a PS baggage dorm.  Note the unusual-for-a-post-war-car flush mounted baggage door, just like the pre-war Daylight combines had as-built.
