Evening Guys,

Caught CN 329 through Washago Just after 17:00 with a nice lash up. To bad the 4624 wasn't leading. Can't have it all.

Those things are looking like Canadian units ... dirty.

CN should do them in a Heritage scheme but make it the two tone green.

I hope when the time comes to retire them, one of the BCR Dash 8's gets preserved.

One of the changes NAFTA bought to Canada was the end of import duties on locomotives. Until that time, very few GE's operated in Canada.

The BCR 4600's were fully Locotrol equipped, and along with some UP Dash 8's, they did an extended demonstration tour on CP, which resulted in many orders of AC4400's and later ES44's.

Let me change that - the last time these were cleaned was the day before the CN takeover... The BCR guys took a tremendous amount of pride in their railway, and it was extremely rare to see an engine this grimy in BCR days. The provincial giveaway of BCR to CN was a travesty.

AND...they are still at work; images from early September at Squamish BC.

1. 4601 leads train 570 into Squamish.

2. CN2400 leads 571 north, with 4601 as a trailer.

3. 4609 was the 2nd unit on train 571 heading north on this trip.

I do agree that somehow one of these being preserved would be a great idea.
