Canadian Railroads > Train 570, last few weeks of operationDate: 04/05/20 18:16 Train 570, last few weeks of operation Author: BCR4619 A few weeks ago word coming down the pipeline was CN was to abolish the 570/571 jobs between Squamish and Williams Lake, all traffic from Williams lake North was to go the long way around while Squamish Terminals would still be served via the 546 and 594 jobs in Squamish. With this info I decided I should head out to document what was to be the last week of operations on March 29, 2020 from D'Arcy to Squamish, BC following Train 570.
1. An early departure from Vancouver I made a straight shot to D'Arcy, with the Covid-19 pandemic going on there was nobody on the highway, no whistler traffic to battle, no nothing which was great to self isolate in my truck! Shortly before 11am the patrol rounded the Cliff ahead of train 570, CN 8903 South. 2. Shortly after 11am 570 came into view. 3. Another shot of 570 along Anderson Lake. Date: 04/05/20 18:19 Re: Train 570, last few weeks of operation Author: BCR4619 4. With 2 units and 27 cars the engineer opens up the throttle to battle the grade ahead departing D'Arcy, BC

8. Passing No. 10 Downing aka Gramsons. 9. Just South of Creekside. Date: 04/05/20 18:28 Re: Train 570, last few weeks of operation Author: BCR4619 10. Wide angle above 570 at Creekside.
11. Looking south 12. Passing the only customer between Squamish and Lillooet CN 8903 makes a turn for Pemberton, BC at Mt. Currie. Date: 04/05/20 18:33 Re: Train 570, last few weeks of operation Author: BCR4619 13. battling the grade just south of Tisdal
14 / 15. Through the S-Curve at Wedgewoods approaching Mons. Date: 04/05/20 18:39 Re: Train 570, last few weeks of operation Author: BCR4619 16. Coasting along Greek Lake which is still frozen as it approaches Mons.
17. My bread and butter for a Southbound chase, deep in the Cheakamus Canyon at the 55.6 mile bridge. 18. Trip complete, tied down in Squamish Yard. A few days after this CN had pushed back the abashment of jobs to April 7th. I was fortunate enough to head out April 4th as well, stay tuned! Tough call on the rail operations. Stay safe out there. 611 Posted from iPhone Date: 04/05/20 19:17 Re: Train 570, last few weeks of operation Author: perklocal Wonderful coverage ! The bridge shot in the Canyon is my favorite.

I presume they use this line on the segment from Jasper through Quesnel to North Vancouver. Would their service still be available if no other use is being made of the line or is it too soon to speculate? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance and thanks for posting this spectacular series of photos. Tom Date: 04/05/20 20:12 Re: Train 570, last few weeks of operation Author: FiveChime Great coverage. Gramsons doesn't to appear of changed a bit since I was the last there in 1988!
