European Railroad Discussion > Trams in Bratislava

Bratislava has a compact metre gauge system with a range of tram types in service. I'm here for a couple of days doing tourist stuff before heading up country to Žilina for some heavy duty mainline railfanning.

1: A pair of Tatra T6A5s
2: Bratislava has a tram tunnel which runs under Castle Hill. Trams only, no cars, pedestrians or cyclists. The tram is a Czech-built Skoda For City 29T.
3: A third type in service is the rebuilt Tatra K2S.

Yes, a few but all in the overall red scheme which I don't much like. According to Today's Railways Europe Bratislava has ordered more new Skodas for delivery in 2023 / 24 which will eliminate the older types.

And a narrow gauge to boot - 1 meter. Always have had a soft spot for narrow gauge trams...

Yes the overall red scheme is hard to photograph- too dark.
