Black River & Western's "Saturday Night Special"
Author: OCtrainguy

On Saturdays during the summer, the Black River & Western Historical Trust runs a "Saturday Night Special" from Ringoes to Flemington. Passengers can stop at the Flemington Outlets or at the old CNJ station in Flemington. The town of Flemington hosts a car show on Saturdays, with a featured vehicle type each week. This past Saturday, I photographed the train and got lucky with seeing the freight train returning to Ringoes after working their interchange at Three Bridges. The first photo is of the "Saturday Night Special" just after the train arrived at the old Flemington station, now a bank. BR&W SW1200 1202 and three coaches were the consist. In the second photo, the train is at the runaround at the Flemington Outlets station awaiting the freight crew to pass them. And last, but not least, the third photo is of the freight train with GP9 752 and four cars at the Flemington Outlets. It was a good night, my son just wished there were some more Mustangs at the car show. Enjoy the photos.
