Looking for some history on this type of car.

I think you can go 15 miles south to Carey where they unload utility poles from them..

Utility poles, timber, etc.

Couldn't say when or who built them.

Eddie,

They are F70 class cars built in 1974-1975, Number series is #114565 - 114597, 33 cars total, 22 built in '74 and the other 11 built in '75, according to my depreciation guide. I cannot find a drawing in my freight car diagram book for flat cars. I will make a contact to see if I can get some more info.

N&W didn't have many large bulkhead flats, so I'd guess this one came from the Southern.

The log racks would not have been original to the car.

Carl;

This car didn't come from N&W or Southern. If it came from Southern its car class would be FS70, not F70. In my initial search, I thought it was an ex-N&W car, but it is not as I cannot find a mechanical drawing for it. Cars purchased by NS post merger all carry car classes that would cause one to believe that older used cars were originally bought by N&W when in fact they were not.
