Having never seen this before, I'm wondering if these are special cars for a special commodity? Why are the domes square, rather that the "traditional" round?

I belive those boxes are covers that Coors fabricated to place over the valves and such to Keep them clean and sanatiary. If you have ever seen one up close you would see that there built to be weather tight. They clamp down tight keeping the elements out
