Does anyone know the sch. of operations for the KB&S. I have been up and down their line several times but have seen very little action.

They operate on an "as-needed" basis, but this time of year is a busy one for them since it's harvest season. If you'd like to find out what's happening at a given time, just call them. They're friendly and helpful. The number is:

Throughout most of the year you can count on at least one move each day during the week -- sometimes on Saturdays as well.

They generally start the day by 7:30 or 8 a.m. and work from Iroquois Jct. up to Kankakee, down toward Lafayette or south on the Danville line. Don't forget the ex-NKP Templeton-Cheneyville line as well. I say "generally" because sometimes the crew will pick up a train somewhere on one of the lines.

This time of year, it is possible for them to have more than one crew working on a couple of their lines on the same day.

Just be courteous, use common sense and keep safety in mind, and the employees will usually be friendly and helpful.
