A CSX coal train derailed at the west end of Newport News yard across from the Amtrak station.

Local internet experts are indicating it was track/switch failure, or a yard job ran into the side of it, or maybe it was a DPU problem.

Amtrak service to the station is presently blocked by the remainder of the train being on the single track mainline.

The fire department response was many, many apparatus. A possible fuel spill is reported.

UPDATE: It was a DPU train 220 or so cars.
