NY&LE Easter train
Author: DundasMP23

The New York and Lake Erie Railroad awoke their two FPA locomotives from their usual slumber to run a few Easter bunny trains on Saturday, April 13, 2019.  Trains departed Gowanda, NY at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and ran to South Dayton and back.  The attached photos are of the afternoon train.

Photo 1 - passing milepost 37 (south of Buffalo) just north of Dayton, NY.

Photo 2 - approaching Gable Street in Dayton, NY.

Photo 3 - at the first crossing south of the US-62 crossing between Dayton and South Dayton

There is currently no online freight business so the only opportunity to catch the MLWs in action is on the occasional passenger train, or if they get more cars for storage.  All the storage cars that were stored on the line south of South Dayton have returned to active rails.  If you want to catch them in action yourself, they are running Easter trains again on Saturday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  They are also advertising a Mother's Day train ride on Saturday May 11 departing Gowanda at 10 a.m.
