Just saw this come across the wires.  It looks like there could be two trains involved;  Train derailment reported in Bluefield, Virginia (msn.com)

And before we have another 8099 discussion, 8100 appears to have escaped unscathed...

Hope crew(s) are ok.

Bluefield, Virginia, is just west of Bluefield, West Virginia.  Think about that for a moment.

I like the new term in the reports for containers - train cargo carts.

I'm still thinking about where Bluefield is, west or east?

It's the capital of South Virginia.

In case this is a serious question, it's in the mountains just west of where I-77 crosses the WV/VA state line.

Basically the mainline to Portsmouth OH re-enters Virginia for a short stretch before continuing on in West Virginia. The Clinch Valley line diverges off  at Bluefield VA and continues on in Virginia to Norton.

And just to keep things straight, remember that I-77 North is the exact same road as I-81 South through Virginia.

Yes, that's a sign which gets your attention on the highway

There's about a ten mile stretch near Wytheville, Virginia, where both I-81 and I-77 run together as the same road - on an east-west alignment.  Otherwise they are separate roads.

There's about 25 miles of I-77 south from the Bluefield/Princeton area before one reaches the wrong-way concurrency with I-81.

Whatever happened to the concept that if you must talk about a subject in which you are basically clueless, you find someone who DOES and either have THEM describe it or have them educate you?  I guess when you are too dumb to know what you don't know, you get "train cargo carts".........
