I expect substantial demand for undecorateds from shortline (prototype or freelance) modelers. A lot of GP7u locos ended up in such service once ATSF was done with them. I guess the manufacturers don't share much development information with each other, which results in duplicate models like this. I'm not sure how far along Intermountain is in their version, but it certainly would not be surprise if they pulled the plug on the project given that Athearn already is pretty far along. Here is a link to the announcement from Intermountain: http://www.modelrailroadnews.com/news.html Date: 11/09/13 07:42 Re: New Athearn Topeka Cabs! Author: ntharalson Is this just the cab, or the entire unit?? If it's
the unit, I want one painted ATSF. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 11/09/13 08:44 Re: New Athearn Topeka Cabs! Author: sanjacmodels do them in N Scale too not just hoho scale
tom Date: 11/09/13 09:07 Re: New Athearn Topeka Cabs! Author: Santafes95 When do you think we can expect to see these delivered? My GP 35's and GP 20's are due for the rebuild!

The cabs were built in Topeka while the units themselves were rebuilt in Cleburne and San Berdo. Charlie MP 53 on the BNSF Topeka Sub Date: 11/09/13 17:00 Re: New Athearn Topeka Cabs! Author: ATSFSD26 Awesome. I'm going to need a few of these for my 1985 Panhandle Sub layout. Well done Athearn and/or Intermountain.
