John Signor caught trespassing at Cantara Loop
Author: photobob

He is obviously hanging out over railroad property as he attempts to take a photo of an eastbound train rounding Cantara Loop. We went up today to visit David Scotts S scale layout which is still under construction in Weed, California. He is modeling the Dunsmuir area so a major tree building project is in the near future.

Here's a couple of more. They were working on the scenery and we just sort of dropped in so getting photos was a little rough. Here's the Dunsmuir turntable and roundhouse. The other two are at Cantara Loop. The layout is in S scale.

With all of those blue lights in that roundhouse, you sure this isn't K-Mart?

And, what are those number boards? 12345?

Hahaha! You got me with that title. Lots of good progress on the scenery since we first visited last year. Really nice trackwork, locomotives and rolling stock.

So how do the S scale trains feel with being used to HO?

Interesting lead in -- it DID get our attention. However, how do we know the railroad's owner(s) didn't INVITE him to photograph the line "that up close" ....? Looks like they did to me. Great stuff!!

There's a growing number of interesting Layouts in the area around Dunsmuir. I'd have to include Redding and maybe a few other towns in the wide sweep. Many of the owners have influenced each other's Layouts, but the recurring theme seems to be Dunsmuir, Cantara Loop and the SP as it was.

A counterpoint being Signor's Layout is based in Southern California, Bruce Petty's is based on a junction in the LA basin.

Agreed. Nice hearing the real trains run while operating a layout.
Here's the Cantara crossing before Signor's trespassing days...

Very cool, haven't seen those bridge spans before. Interesting to see the tree density, similar to what there is out there today.

Nice! It will be interesting to see more pictures in the future as the layout gets more complete.

What a nice looking layout even with Mr. Signor in the first photo. What is the train room size. It must be large for an S-scale layout. Fine detail, impressive and a cool area to model.

That is a great looking layout, and I love that it's in S scale.

Sorry; not prototypical

I don't see a wood nymph in the water on the model like PhotoBob caught at the prototype Cantara Bridge one time...
