Model Railroading > Part 2. Are there builders of complete, turnkey model RRs?Date: 04/18/18 11:01 Part 2. Are there builders of complete, turnkey model RRs? Author: DocJohn In reply to my previous post, "Are there builders of complete, turnkey model railroads?" some of you asked for pictures of my current layout. Pictures are attached. One more will be added in next post. Tracks in center with small radius curves (an attempt at an industrial switching line)would not be part of new layout. Track that comes off at main junction circles around twice to reach the yard area.

Author: SCUfoamer Well that looks like a huge confusing mess. My suggestion, remove half of the track and restart.

I'm sorry, I just could not resist it. Date: 04/18/18 15:20 Re: Part 2. Are there builders of complete, turnkey model RRs? Author: jejhnsn You are getting close! Just remove all the stuff that isn't fastened down and give some scenery. I would probably skip any roads/highways.

In Part 1 DocJohn was talking about his next layout. Anyhow DocJohn, thanks for posting. Any luck in finding a custom builder or any new insights in the design? I see some of your NYC railroad fleet on your current layout. Jack Date: 04/18/18 20:50 Re: Part 2. Are there builders of complete, turnkey model RRs? Author: 2720 Talk about a "Bowl of Spaghetti"!!

It will be interesting to see what DocJohn comes up with for his next layout. Cheers, Jim Date: 04/19/18 04:45 Re: Part 2. Are there builders of complete, turnkey model RRs? Author: Korigaoka1811 What is a "turnkey" model railroad?

I hope you are not representative of most model railroaders. Your reply was very rude. Sorry, that I'm not a model railroader and that I asked a question that did not meet your standard. Think about a car. All you need to do is start > it with a key and drive away. Thank you for your reply. I am not a model railroader and the term was new to me. John Date: 04/19/18 13:23 Re: Part 2. Are there builders of complete, turnkey model RRs? Author: Kimball He meant to say a "bespoke" model RR, maybe?

It’s a common phrase used in many things. Posted from iPhone Date: 04/20/18 03:01 Re: Part 2. Are there builders of complete, turnkey model RRs? Author: Korigaoka1811 Spoony81 Wrote:

When someone asks me a honest question, I politely answer if I can. I don't attack my questioners. When I can answer a question I feel good because I helped someone out and I might have a chance to get to know someone better. And learn a few new things myself since no one knows everything about everything. I really don't understand the hostility to my simple question. How did I offend? John Edited 1 time(s).
