Passenger Trains > Special passenger train 10/16Date: 10/13/10 00:28 Special passenger train 10/16 Author: 72368 The Kelso Flyer will operate from Los Angeles to Barstow Saturday October 16th. Consist will include two Amtrak coaches, private cars Overland Trail, Silver Splendor, Pacific Sands and TIOGA PASS. Train will leave LA at 8:45am and stop at Fullerton and San Bernardino, and arrive Barstow about 12:45pm. This is a special train operated by Aronco Leasing for the Barstow Kelso Rail
Group. On Sunday, this train will leave Barstow at 8:45am for Kelso via Yermo and Afton Canyon, and should arrive Kelso at 10:45am, and will leave Kelso at 12:45pm for Barstow and a return trip to Los Angeles, arriving LA at 6:15pm. The train is reportedly sold out between Barstow and Kelso, with over 225 passengers booked. There is still space available both ways over Cajon Pass. Kelso is on UP's Cima Sub MP 236 (roughly), it's really in the middle of nowhere. About 25-35 miles from Baker, off of I15. I remember one trip that included the "mountain observation car".
