Back then, CDTX locos going to LA for work, on the front of the starlight was semi-monthly occurrence, so who knows when the last one was.

After the new Amtrak coachyard opened in Oakland in October 2004, Caltrain started sending F40's over there for work. That in turn ended when Caltrain's CEMOF facility opened in San Jose in September 2007.

I'm pretty sure the last time Amtrak F40's led the Starlight was in 2001, and the last time I saw a solid set of F40's on #11 was in September 1998.

And I believe Caltrain 901 is named "San Jose".
