he should've have made an Indiana whistle stop tour ... if the newly established CCRail Hoosier rail service which won the contract over Amtrak is a success then you can certainly see the likes of CCRail or other such companies looking to cherry pick other corridors that Amtrak presently runs ... Amtrak has now lost 5 big commuter and corridor rail contracts ... MBTA, Metrolink, Caltrans, VRE and now the Hossier rail service ...

Yeah but chances are it'll be the same facts which for some reason Washington doesn't get!

Maybe Joe Boardman can explain to the local politicians and taxpayers of Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico why Amtrak or, in essence, the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, can own, operate and maintain the trackage involving the (1.) Post Road, (2.) Kalamazoo-Porter, (3.) New Orleans Union Station, (4.) Chicago Union Terminal, (5.) Niagara Whirpool Bridge, (6.) Hudson Line, (7.) Los Angeles 8th St. Yard and Engine Facility and (8.) Northeast Corridor with FEDERAL dollars, yet he expects the La Junta, CO - Lamy, NM line segment to be maintained with STATE and/or local funds.

If the governor of New Mexico is balking at this proposal, I think I'm in agreement with her. Perhaps her position that the FEDERAL government needs to assume responsibility has merit.

Can the FEDERAL Government step up to the plate and pay for anything OTHER than the military, highway repair, air traffic control and airport infrastructure maintenance, and board-and-care for the tens-of-thousands of illegal aliens that are presently cascading across our southern border?

Is it any wonder why this arrangement has "spawned" radical characters like Randy Weaver, Timothy McVeigh and Cliven Bundy?

Since you posted this three times, I think we get the point.

I just did it twice. There were two separate threads with essentially the same topic.

Getting rid of the F35 would be a start towards freeing up billions for more useful things including Amtrak.
